Nov 1, 2009 - Our Back Yard

After yesterday's great big breakfast, Bill and I braved the drizzle to dig up 2 recycling containers worth of monkey grass to be transplanted acrossour recently-leveled back yard.

We got enough to go a little over halfway across the yard.

Combining shots shows what the new yard is starting to look like.
We're going to kill the grass (which is barely alive anyway), plant more, and let mulch cover the rest. I'm very excited about this project and have waited until the weather was cooler to start it.

It is hard to see what you're looking at, but the large green plant in the center (behind the reddened dogwood) is a 4-year-old lantana that we moved from the mailbox one fall. It has since spread and blooms again each summer.
