July 18-20, 2009 - Kittyhawk XXXI
For the 31st year, the LeRoy clan has its annual pilgrimage to the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
For me, the center of attraction isn't the beach, it is playing games with family.
...but not only cards.
Then they're are the kids - Megan shows off her near-walking skills.
B.E.A.C.H. - a family staple.
Loosely based on BINGO rules, the kids compete for prizes.
Sean is concerned that his grandma isn't playing good enough.
Tommy wins the first game with a full column in the B category.
Next is art time.
Of course, there is the pool (and the beach, to which I haven't gone in at least three years, so I have no pictures).
The littlest girls play - Carmela Lena Marie Van Fossen and Megan Cassidy McMahon.
(One of those girls is destined to spell their name first. We'll chalk it up to their age difference.)
Quinn enjoys hanging out with his Uncle Scott.
Well, he may not enjoy it, but he is less mobile than his sister, so he doesn't have much of a choice now, does he?
Megan gives Paul a preview of where his niece will be in a few months.
Brown pelicans fly north and south up and down the coast.
Grandma feeds Megan and Quinn and Laura Scheri looks on.
The traditional group photo...
Then a new tradition: the kids group (sans Walter and Elliot who didn't make it this year.
The Scheris got into the "crazy shot."
(The rest will learn in time.)
