May 8, 2008 - Around The World, Day 13 - Timbavati, South Africa

We wake up early for our morning game drive, which starts about 6:30am.
Actually, we were ready at 5:30, so we called for the guard to pick us up.
Joe guides while ranger Kenny drives.

It's very cold and misty this morning.

The landscape looks desolate. Hard to believe how many animals are around.

There's hippos in them waters.

What's that?

Black back jackyl.

Marula

After a few hours, we stop for a mid-morning coffee.
Fine by me, but the crew that prepped the rover forgot the hot water. No coffee, but we did have the fixings...
Here is Amarula, in front of its namesake, a marula tree.

Jill poses with our ranger, Kenny.

Back at Ngala, we see the watering hole where elephants came up that night.

A few pictures of the lodge grounds.

Our room.

We knocked back a bit of that sherry the night before...

Our van comes to pick us up to take us to Sabi Sands.
We say goodbye to Ngala.
We weren't there long, but it was amazing!
