May 7-10, 2008 - Around The World, Days 12-15 - Zebra, South Africa

May 7, Timbavati
One of the neatest things of Ngala is that it is in the middle of the massive Timbavati reserve. We go through the gates and still have to drive for almost an hour. En route, we're still on part of our 'transfer,' but it is almost a game drive.
We pass a few zebra on the way...

May 8, Timbavati
The next morning, we get a neat treat...

A large herd of zebra block the trail.

There are a few adults, but the young were the fun ones to watch.

The foals (under a year) are playful.

They're not running from the rover.

They're just playing.

You can see how this would be confusing to a predator who closes the hunt very much by movement.
