December 22, 2007 - A Very Frenchy Christmas - Day 1

It is nice to get away from the chaos and materialism of Christmas at home.
This year, we flew through Paris to Marseille where we have a transfer to the boat.

We arrive on the boat, take a little nap.
Ben, Eulalia, Jill, and I set out to see the town where we're docked - Arles.
Arles (pronounced "arl," not "arLAY") is at the southern end of Provence, very close to France's Mediterannean coast.

Arles has a large Roman amphitheater that dates back to the 1st century A.D.

They recently rebuilt a section of the ruin to provide an example of what it used to look like.

Tomorrow: Arles and Avignon
