April 8, 2007 - Bill's birthday weekend, day 2

Waking up in Athens-town, we have breakfast at Cracker Barrel, then drive and walk around downtown.

We head over to the Dan McGill tennis complex, where Jill and Carey hit the National Tennis Hall of Fame (while Bill and I have a gin and tonic).
The teams line up - #1 and undefeated UGA takes on one-loss Ole Miss.

Game on.

The match starts with three high-energy doubles matches.

UGA's Line 3 is pumped, as they draw first blood...

Georgia's Line 1, anchcored by a 6'9" Lurch.

UGA's Line 2 wins, clinching the point (winner of two of the three doubles gets one point).

The point gets tallied...

Even though the point was already determined, the 1s finish the match to preserve their #1 national ranking.

Basically minutes later, Lurch wins Line 1 singles.

UGA 2, Ole Miss 0

We win Line 3, taking our third point in the best-of-seven match.

Travis digs in to earn a match point.

Ole Miss had won Line 4, Line 6, and heavily lead Line 5. It was tense. However, after a third-set tiebreaker, we pull out Line 5 to win the day 5-2 AND CLINCH THE SEC REGULAR SEASON TITLE!!
